Today I was walking the dog and found this painting with a label reading 'for free'. This happens a lot in the are where I live, Think its a local tradition or so.

I do like the painting, but I cant read the signature. Does the surname start with a J or a G and some other letters that I have difficulties with.

Juts underneath the signature I can maybe see a date which I think is ''75 or 73.

Its a very very dirty painting. I wanted to read the signature and cleaned the signature area a bit, and you can see the difference.

Can somebody help with the artist name or other info is also welcome. Thank you

yes i can see it now. Im going blind .
Shame, cant seem to find records of this artist in artnet or else.
The colors and horses remind me a bit the paintings by Marc Chagall

Probably an amateur artist, so you may not find any record of them.

The frame is doing it no favours but I agree, the image is striking. I love the idiosyncrasies in amateur work, I collect cheaper examples of it myself. Chagall is a good call, maybe in future you can take a look at how his works are framed, something similar would look lovely with this :)

The white horse has a lot of unusual depth which raises it a few notches above what you often see in thrift shops.
