    Hello,
I am new to the forum and here is my first question.
What is your feeling when seeing this illustration.
It is not my cup of tea, but I do like it in a way.
It seems to me to be a mixt of painting and drawing.....
    cheers

Can't tell if it is an original or a print from these photos. It looks more like an illustrative drawing than a literary illustration.

    Thanks for your reply!
It is indeed hard to see on the pic's that it is painted.
I tried to show it with the last picture when laying flat, but it do not show the paint structure.
The lack of colour in the red parts of the banners are the only clues I can give.

I think I need to find a specialist in comic strips to who the image might ring a bell in order to get to the artist...
I forgot to mention the size, that is 40/32 cm, and is not signed.

I know there were book illustrators doing work of that ilk in Edwardian times.

It looks like a really good screen print from here.

    I like the image. :)

It looks more like a good quality original print to me than a painting, possibly with some handpainting added in the water area. I'd suggest showing it in person to someone with expertise.

I'm not sure why you mentioned a specialist in comic strips... I wouldn't think this item has a comic book connection?
