What is this? Counterweight?

    Hi all,
    Looking for someone who know what the heck this is.
    Aluminum outer shell with brass inside.
    it is 1 3/4" tall by 1 1/4" at the widest point.
    with the wire hanger on one end and a black ball in the top center.
    It weighs 4.4 oz and the only markings is a # 5 on the brass end

    Looks like a weight for one of the old "pressure cookers."

    I'm sure that's what it is. I remember my granny cooking corn beef in a pressure cooker, Hmmm...

    I agree it is for a pressure cooker.

    My Dad uses one to cook hams.

    I just bought him a new seal for the weight/valve.
