Hey guys, the piece isn't mine.... yet. The asking price was $500 and it is very very tempting. Weight all together is 33 grams and I assume I should deduct at least 10 grams from that for the movement and dial. Below is an example of how they swing out. I may get it because I don't know if I will find another. The website I found this one on claims it as a purse watch or a pocket watch and unisex.

Unless it's called something else on a watch, or I'm spelling it wrong.

No problem. I spend a lot of time looking up things I read here, because I am just learning the language of antiques. It keeps me out of trouble (mostly). :)

I feel a bit uneasy about "Schultz". before I'd buy it, I'd have a look at the clockwork.

The Movado one is definitely a travel clock. Why else have St Christopher on the outside? He was the now debunked patron saint of travelers.

Okay here it is. I bought it... I am quite happy with it, it needs a service to run again but either way I like it. The watch sits in this position. The maker is indeed J. Schulz not Schultz. Schulz made watch cases for brands like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels in the 50s. Quite a unique piece for my collection and I doubt I will find another like it.

However I can't find any anything on Schulz though? Can anyone find information on the actual company?

Thanks for the ad! They made some great pieces, very unusual! I love the album watch, I want one!

By the way the story on my watch according to the seller is that Max was indeed a girl and it was a gift. Apparently Jon was Jon Hall the actor but its a far fetched story with no proof unfortunately. The person who sold the watch was the daughter of the housekeeper of Jon Hall.... man I wish the story could be authenticated! Oh well!

Well apparently Jon Hall was divorced from Frances Langford in 1955, so perhaps it is true.

sorry to say, but something doesn't fit for me. it's either Schultz or Schulz. so what do you have ?
generally spoken, Schultz is more Germany, Schulz is rather Swiss.
might help to see the clockwork.

Okay so what's up with the dial is that it was poorly redialed. It wouldve originally read Schulz but whomever redid it in the past for whatever reason put Schultz... should be about $30-50 to have it done properly again.

There was probably no internet when it was done and the person probably assumed Sch was abbreviated as Schultz.
