It is thicker than a normal Cabinet Card. I've had something the same size, edges etc before, and it had a hole at the top with a ribbon through it. It's image was of a deer down by the river with a house up above near some woods. That was being sold (when I bought it) as a Victorian Card Wall Hanging. It was on the same exact type of board. I knew it was real due to the ink on the back, and the date. It's hard to fake the oxidation and handwriting from back then.

It looks like the card itself has squared edges and is pasted on a backing card that has rounded edges. If that's true, I'm not sure why it would have been pasted, other than so it could stand up more easily.

Items like this and the deer card aren't likely to be faked since they're not usually worth very much $$.

Grandma Honey always said "was," as in "we was..." and pronounced it "wuz."

She was born around 1900, a bit later.

But she never claimed to be especially literate, just a Central Californian with Mid Western roots.

I used to try to make her say it, just for fun.

As others have said, little girls time over have wished to be older than they are... imagining all the interesting things that they are missing by being "too young". That said, perhaps it was part of a set of some sort and the other pieces would have helped to determine context.

Warning. Political Incorrectness coming up. If you have sensitivities, don't read the following.

I rather thought it might be Bruce Jenner as a child.

Ok, there you have it. I'm an insensitive clod.
