What is this object? Smoke pipe ?

    Could be a knife handle and they burned the tang of the knife into it.But a stick or flat tang would be a better option.

    The blades were often mounted in fused colophane or similar resin with sand, it can explain the black aspect.

    The holes are on the same spot.

    I think the seeds on the cord are red sword boan seeds....

    Knife shanks have also been heated and burned into wood handles to make them fit for hundreds of years.
