I'm wondering what this was meant to be used for. It measures about 4" tall and 3.5" wide. It's made by Wilcox Silver Plate and is quadruple plate. Thank you!
Additional info: Not sure if it helps; with the engraving "Christmas 1896" and since it's monogramed with my great grandmother's initials, I would assume it was a gift to her for Christmas when she was 4 years old.

I think it's to hold small Chingaderas vs large ones. ;)

Maybe it came with little candies?

I'm inclined to agree with Pat. It looks like something to hold candy in. Like maybe peppermints or something. A suitable gift for a little girl back in the day, I would imagine.

Charming. And she can use it for brandy when she gets older... :)

    Kiddish Cup ?.......................................................with cover.......

Correct me if I'm wrong but from what I know about the time period and holiday season , candies would have arrived in a showy store logo'd box with bows and ribbons..........this held or was meant to hold ....something else !

I can't imagine what. And candies were often decanted into jars or pots for decorative purposes.

Ran through a Wilcox catalog from that era, didn't find this piece, but it looks like a tea caddy to me...

So when the four year old went to visit Granny, she was fascinated (played) with the tea caddy on the bottom shelf in the dining room. Granny thought it was so cute, she had it engraved and gave it to her for Christmas...................
