Going through some of my mother-in-laws antique collection and we are having a hard time figuring out what some of the items are. We were hoping some of the folks on this forum might be able to help with the identification. I hope I have attached the photo correctly. The bottom of this is soldered and it appears there is no other opening except the small hole on the top. Any ideas on what this item is, would be appreciated?
Whatever it is, it appears to be upside down. I'm assuming is it is a bowl of some type with a drain and it fits atop some sort of support. Maybe another picture would help.
Will try to get another photo. The item is in another state so maybe I can get someone to email me a picture of the bottom. All I remember is that it is flat and sealed.
Well now, that makes it a real puzzler. @springfld.arsenal you ever seen anything like this in your hunts for machinery?
I really don't have any good idea what it is. Would think it was around heat since it is copper. The clevis with pin makes you think it could be a part of something bigger. Really hope we can find it's true use.
It doesn't look like it unscrews. It appears the center clevis is soldered in like the bottom and vent like opening. It isn't one of a kind though. We have two exactly the same.
