p1.jpg p2.jpg p3.jpg p4.jpg p5a.jpg p6.jpg My wife and I recently picked this up at an estate auction. We love it, but have no idea what it is, maybe a potpourri holder, we don't know.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

One would assume, since you can see right through it, that it's NOT a soup tureen!!! Unless of course the soup were in a container within!!! It IS LOVELY..... with a beautiful design!!!!:):):singing::singing:

Well the dimensions are similar. The bowl is about 7 1/2" and overall handle to handle is a little over 11" the body of it is 7 1/2" high and the lit adds another 4". So we will go with a compote, I can picture berries being in there. Thank you all for your help.

not seeing a cake related object; more of a reticulated covered compote/fruit bowl/basket; some may add Capodimonte style from the applied flowers, but Capodimonte is typically much more ornate...

It could just be a pretty thing. No specific purpose in mind.

Date-wise, looks to be 1960s-1980s. We get a lot of this type of Italian ware in the secondhand shops in France...if it's not marked Capodimonte, it's probably not from that region (usually they are marked as such) but it is in that style.
