    They just call them eye beads these days. Southern or Eastern Mediterranean somewhere, at least originally.

    Well...'these days'...they call this number sign ' # ' a hashtag...and the words ." In the Future ".. have been replaced by..' going forward '....

    & I myself care for neither of them.....Harrumph !!! :meh::meh::meh:

    Yes Turkish, although similar ones are made in most of the eastern Mediterranean. The eye is called 'nazar' in Turkish, and protects against the evil eye.
