I stumbled across this gorgeous old real fur coat, but I have no idea what fur it is. I'm hanging between mink or beaver? But probably totally off, appreciate any help. Agree with anti.
Wasn't this style made in the 1980s?

    yes 1980s I think too.
I remember fur was still very popular to wear in the late 1980s! ;)

Is there lots of volume in shoulders? Including pads perhaps? If so, agree with 1980s. (And, by way, think you have collar pulled down too low which gives it an out-of-period look.) These types of furs were a way to get lots of bang for (fur) buck because of the less expensive leather strips.

No label whatsoever. Wow, I'm a child of the 80's but don't remember this, but I was an Iowa farm girl then, not to many places to dress up like this, lol. Thanks!!

Yes, I'm sure I probably have it pulled down too far, you can tell by the leather showing. No shoulder pads and no big shouders, quite fitted actually. The lining looks old, so I didn't even think 80's.

A narrow silhouette would take it into the 1970s. Would you post a photograph of the lining? And no tags at all?

If you want to post photos of the labels and inside details, we could possibly narrow down a more accurate time frame. 1970s was also a good fur decade, although I don't remember seeing the "pieced" mink with leather any earlier, if even that early. Not all jackets had big shoulders with pads in the 1980s, mine didn't.

I'd agree on late 70s/early1980s, that style was huge. I had a couple of very similar fake furs with leather stripes. Does look mink.
