What kind of "prints" are these and how to "clean"

    I bought these off ebay a couple weeks ago..

    They are from a book, "The Soldier in Our Civil War"
    The listing said they were from 1884 and Ive seen they were republished in 1890 as well.

    They have some staining in the lower center fold and one has completely come apart at the center fold.
    I plan on framing these.
    Whats the beset way to clean or lighten the stain repair the separation, and try to decrease the crease?

    What kind of printings would these be if out of a book?

    I saw some images out of it the other day while searching and didnt save them..
    I asked the ebay seller if they had anymore and they said they did
    I went back to try and find them and couldnt. This will help a lot!

    So many images!
    Im a sucker for older horse art, especially military related :joyful::banghead:

    Oh my goodness, I might as well just buy the darned set..
    Theres SO MANY I LIKE! I will be poor purchasing them independently like this :arghh::hilarious:

    I guess one vol is the Union and the other Confederate?

    One of my favs so far!

    Usually called wood engravings (a type of relief print). I don't know how accurate that is. These types of pictures might have been photographed directly from drawings or scratchboard.

    I wanted to search for it but didn't know where to begin

    It's pinned in the art category, but it deals with studio intaglio prints... not the mass market processes and not relief prints.
