Dose anyone know what type of box this is, I thought it might have something to do with the catholic church, since there is a cross on the front and i found a antique bible on the inside. Im assuming its at least late 19th early 20th century, and possibly what type of value might it have.

Can you get us a photo of the inside with all the items in there? Also how about some dimension & maybe a photo of the bottom could help us out.

Hey, sorry for the late response guys. I have the box in my storage unit. I'll get the dimensions tomorrow and update y'all on it. The contents on the inside are
( Antique Bible, some vintage and antique post cards, some type of diary ( 1883) and misc. costume jewelry, oh and a antique wedding photograph. I recently bought a lot of vintage and antique native american items, and that was one of the items that came along with it. Trying to sort through everything and figure things out. Starting to become overwhelming.

Also know as a lap writing desk. Often used for travel, but not always.

Yeah, I dunno, I can't tell much by the photo's provided. It looks to be well made with hand dovetails, I'd say the date is close, late 19th-early 20th century

With those compartments, I'd guess that is probably correct.

It is kind of hard from the pictures, but this one shows there is a slant consistent with a desk.

Also has two square holes for ink bottles.
Unfortunately missing it's leather writing pad.

Are there 2 boxes here we are looking at? :hilarious:

    No
Picture is rather deceptive as we are looking straight on. Notice 2 is deeper than 1 - and I see a slight triangle shape to the side.

Yeah, see what i mean about photos and old furniture? the camera lies, i don't know why.
You are gonna need better pics to ID what the box is used for but i'd say writing box is probably correct. Not a lot of value here but it's worth something.

Late to the party, but I concur, based on the lock, the compartments &, most of all, the angled cut between lid & base. Also known as a writing slope. If anyone has noticed, Jenna Coleman is always using one at her desk in Victoria.
