Featured What type of gourd is this lidded jar and do the flowers signify anything?

    Got this cute little lidded jar that is a gourd of some kind but can’t work out which.
    Also there is a floral garland with three lower flowers on one side that might be a clue
    as to where it came from. Definitely not made yesterday. Clues anyone??

    It's turned wood, not a dried gourd. Sure is pretty I hope someone knows where it came from.

    The top is turned wood on a crude lathe but I still think the jar is a gourd of some type.

    You are probably both right. These rings around the rim were what confused me. They are probably crude lathe lines filled with lacquer.

    I think this is called treenware.
