    babey.jpg I'm pretty sure that's a doll. I sure hope it's a doll...

The shadows on this one give it a freaky serial killer-ish vibe.

I'd guess it a real baby sleeping in the sun. (The diaper area is pretty bulky unless someone was diapering their doll.)

If you click on and enlarge the picture you will see ONE eye open. Gotta be a doll or it would be rolling off that narrow thing it's on.
    Polaroid.
    Not very interesting.

I don't se an open eye, and that "narrow thing" is sunshine on a floor or sofa. ;)

Polaroids didn't have those "torn" looking edges - crisp and straight.

Dolly on the floor in a spot of sunshine, taken by a young child during an early experiment in photography. ;)

OK, I plead deafness, poor eyesight and lack of feminine intuition. Anything else?

Yes, the narrow strip is most likely just a small part of the floor/whatever.

On the lower, left side of that diagonal, I interpreted the lower part, adjoining the light to dark section, as the edge of a raised object.

Going a bit lower - one foot - it then becomes darker. Overall a raised object supporting the figure.

Then, looking diagonally above the "head," a shadow, a triangular light section and then another drop "to the floor."

Synopsis - Does anyone else note, imagine, discern, a change in depth of shading in that area where the arm touches the light to dark line?
Maybe a foot of medium dark to darker?

    No? I'm guilty.

    Maybe? There's hope for me.

Yes? Ok, men win for once.

Somebody scalloped their own borders with one of those crazy scissor things?

I dunno, something about it looks really unnatural...

Yes TOG. Drug store development - torn/scalloped edges.

I agree drug store developed. I have literally hundreds of family pics taken with an assortment of cameras from the 1930s and early 40s with these scalloped type of edges.

BTW, I also think it is a napping baby lying on something bathed in sunlight streaming in through a long narrow window pane. To the person taking the pic, it was probably a delightful sight, but they didn't take time or didn't know how to focus the camera, etc...

Believe me, I have many many many vintage (1930s-1940s) family photographs that makes this one look pretty good.

    Thanks, ladies.
l'll let you in on one of my problems.
99% of my photo albums, pictures from world wide travel, AND 99% of my personal family albums dating back 80 years are GONE. Bye-bye.
I have very, very few I sometimes run into in a box or drawer.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR.
