I share here the picture of a painting that my father bought somewhere in 1950s. For many decades, it has been on the wall of our living room in Helsinki, Finlad. Now in 2025, I tried picture search and found a similar painting by Jeanne Brandsma, sold by Sulis Fine Art in England. They informed that "Jeanne Brandsma was born in Belgium in 1902. She was married to sculptor Frederik (Frits) Jan van Hall." Then searching for "Jeanne Brandsma", I found this thread, and after reading it, I am more confused than in the beginning. In the first posts, it was revealed that the girl of the painting is Annabella, the daughter of Jeanne Brandsma. Then we had Post 5, revealing further that "Jeanne Brandsma made several different portraits in the gipsy theme, signed with various signatures (Corelli, Peter, V Dias, Brandsma and others)". Later in the thread, Radboud Stam informed that Jeanne Brandsma was a pseudonym by Hendrik Theodorus Jaspers, also known as Henk Jaspers. So did I understand correctly: The girl in my painting could be called Annabella, the daughter of Jeanne Brandsma and Frits van Hall. However, Jeanna Brandsma was just a pseudonym by Henk Jaspers. So is this whole family (Jeanne, Frits, Annabella) just a fictional story?
