I see a lot of this type of paintings signed with this name.
Even one similar sold on the bay for $70.00.
Does anyone know of this artist or is it just a made up name for a factory painting?
Sorry about the blurry pics, but you get the idea. atree 20054.jpg

Factory or not, I think it's a nice painting. I would spend $70 on it without blinking.

Yep, I read that earlier. It seems like an obscure artist maybe. It's sad that if it's a real artist, not factory doing these, that they are not making themselves known better. Maybe one day they'll break from the dark corner and reveal their identity.

Probably a made up name for modern pictures to attract people who have vaguely heard of Winslow Homer but can't quite recall the exact name.

Just wondering, what's not particularly good about it?

A quick google image search of maritime art or marine art will show what better paintings of the genre look like. The painting is fine for $70 but it is not painted with great skill or inspiration.

The sea is unconvincing, and the ship appears to be carrying too much sail for the apparent weather conditions, and so close to land.

The tradition of maritime art tends to technical fidelity even though, in a picture like 'The Fighting Temeraire', Turner makes the whole thing a blur.

Even others see this painting as about $70 value. So I must not be all that loco. I know, as we get older, we tend to spend less.

I didn't mean that the painting is worth $70 but rather $70 is not too much to spend on something that gives you pleasure even if the item in question has absolutely no resale value.

I was referring to sales on eBay. Not necessarily your statement.
