Who Made This Larg Aluminum Trunk - Has Made in Germany on Lock?

    Can anyone tell me who made this trunk? It's aluminum, large (34 x 19 x 14), has beautiful leather handles and would make a great coffee table with a piece of glass on top of it.
    It has Made in Germany on the lock - is that just the lock or the whole trunk? Since it doesn't say Made in Western Germany - is this from pre war?
    Thank you for any information on it.

    Impossible to know without a mark, but the lock is by Albana, a German lock manufacturer. I have seen Albana locks on mid-century German leather suitcases.

    Or post-reunification. It looks in pretty good condition. I would call it a footlocker.

    They were used for air freight, I had one last year from a family that relocated from Hong Kong in the 50's back to the UK.
    The aluminium is very thin and coats either cardboard or wood.
    Mine had been stored in damp conditions for years and became unusable.
    The contents were good though.

    There are similar ones for cameras, sound and other equipment. Different sizes, according to requirements. We used to order them, custom made.
