Featured Who may be the painter of this picture?

I have found this picture just few days ago at one of the Housing Works locations in Manhattan.
It is 44x48 inches. Oil on canvas. Anco Bilt strechers.
I love the painting and I have done some search online, but did not find a single clue who the painter might be.

 

Identifying the artist may not be possible especially because doesn't look to be the work of a fully trained painter. Still, a very interesting composition. Can see why it'd catch your eye.

and it is not signed as well.
But I think that may be a piece from school studies or something like that.
As I had to re-stretch the canvas I noticed that the stretchers and the canvas itself are decades old (at least 20 years old), so I wonder if the person is still in arts (I'd love to put a name on this piece)
And you are right I just fell in love with the composition and the style right away. It was just four days ago when I bought it, and today I am framing it, tomorrow it goes on my wall.

 

for someone to take the time to do that and not sign it.......
i'll never understand why !

WAAAY, WAAAY DOWN, BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER, TINY, TINY SIGGY.....AT LEAST IT LOOKS LIKE ONE........YOU would probably see it better with a magnifier! Might say 'T...something...ending in 'EL'

I do like the painting. Especially like the way the red shirt is done. kind of "Vangoghesque" in my opinion. I believe this is better then your run of the mill student piece.....That said.....I know squat about art......but I know what I like. This painting has real appeal. If it were mine I would shoot a couple pics off to an art auction site and see what they have to say about it.

I love it so much, and I agree with you, the bold brush strokes, use of colors and composition are telling me that there is a talent behind this piece.
Actually what I want the most is to find the artist and to let her/him know that I love the painting. I just framed it yesterday and hung it on my wall today and was plying piano music all day with the speaker just few feet from the painting.
