I just figure 70s 80s - doesn't make sense for it to be any earlier than the 60s. I would like to test the finish, just out of curiosity...

But I'm NOT going to paint it, varnish it or anything but clean it, I swear! I think the color, finish and grain on it are lovely, and I've never painted a piece of furniture in my life! Nevah!

The back of the arms and the corner of the skirt are dirty from body oil. I can scrape it off with my fingernail (yuck). I think that's what helped dull or fade the finish on the tops of the arms... Thanks for weighing in, everyone! Much appreciated :)

It may not be, i really don't know but, modern factory finishes are tricky & should be approached with caution if trying to "blend" in a new finish on parts of a piece.

Agrees, try some denatured alcohol or other solvent in a small spot first to see if it harms the finish.

Thanks for sharing this one, @scoutshouse ! (As usual, haven't been able to keep up with some of the threads here.) I like the "clunky" design of the chair. Is it comfortable? Hope to see an update on how the cleaning goes.

    Bump

Looking up from my magazine at the accountants office, look who I bumped into:

The owner's mother bought it from a furniture manufacturer liquidation in torrance, which is where I grew up - and where I found mine :)

    Sometime post 70s...

She bought a set of lily pad themed chairs from them, too. So I guess they were on the artsy artisan side.

"High concept" is how my dad would have expressed it :)

Really tickled to meet up with a relative.

Yes, @Figtree3 It is weirdly comfy, even with no cushion.

Apparently, this dupe had a cane seat, so they added the cushion (and casters for good measure).

Yes, I did gather that... I will read the thread again. I am using my phone and took the shortcut of only reading the newer posts.

    Ok, read it!
