I found brass with copper trim or handles with the same maker's mark/logo. Nobody knew the maker, but most dated their items to the 1960s. This mark was not on any of the copper or brass marks websites either. As the items I found were in the USA, I suspect it is American or Canadian made. Here are a few that I found.

Sold piece. need to scroll down the page to see the pics that are still up online.

Here is a query about this mark posted on the allexpert.com website. The so-called expert didn't know the maker either. The expert speculated that WMC stood for white metal casting. I agree with the white metal casting.

Here is a query about a lamp marked L&L WMC. The L & L is the maker Loevsky & Loevsky and the WMC is for White Metal Casting

Thanks Susan, I found most of those too and no one knew. White metal casting, meaning made of white metal? my object is definitely solid copper with a brass medallion in the center. wmc.jpg wmc2.jpg

These cast pieces (not the lamps) are by Winkler Mills Craftsmen from near Santa Fe, New Mexico. There can easily be confusion with their mark--WMC with a lion facing left and a row of dots under the lion--and the White Metal Casting that is used for base-metal lamps. Winkler Mills folks came from Winkler Mills, MI, to Nambe, NM, some time before the 1950. Their work is definitely mid-20th century. Pauline Cabel, a secretary for WMC, bought foundry in the early 1950s and renamed it nambé. Many of the WMC designs are continued by nambé as their "heritage" series, but in the 8-metal alloy it is now known for. Hope this helps.

further research suggests that it's MILL not Mills.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Thanks for your update, @Nambe collector . The original poster @wildrose does still come here sometimes, but looks like it has been a while now. I'm tagging her here in hopes that she sees the tag and the information you posted.
