Fairly recent or may have some age?

Hope someone can ID the species of wood, then it’ll be easier to guess how old it might be. Some might want to know the size in order to guess what it was used for. Was it a vine that was steamed, bent, and glued to make a circle, or what? Olivewood?

Looks like there is an overlap near the bottom of the picture.

A lot of these were sold in import shops from the 60s to date; mostly lathe-turned, not steamed or bent and joined. Looks to be some sort of tropical wood.
