    I think smell would diagnose that

    It’s fragranced. But I’ve heard of fakes with injected oil and inserted weights.

    Thank you "Speechless", Trent here from Grandawood, I saw the link from here, these beads are NOT agarwood
    It sinks because of the density and the metal string

    Is it the beads or the string that have scent? It could have permeated the string.

    If you enlarged the genuine agarwood beads, you would see something like this

    With agarwood beads, they are hardly solid as if you look at the raw material, you will understand.
    There is no complete black part of the wood log, so why the beads are solid black?

    [IMG]

    By solid, I mean the whole black bead, no name and shame here but if you go to eBay, you would often see this "black agarwood" , "kinam wood" , "black eaglewood"

    What do you think of this piece? I have not done the float test
    yet but I think I sense a fragrance. Not strong, so, could be no resin but just natural wood smell or transfered.

    Hi kardinalisimo , This is not agarwood. There are many wood fragrance.
    Agarwood (Aquilaria) is very soft, classified as non-timber wood, you can carve a figure out of them but to make a box out of it, it is extremely difficult and impractical as it will break during the process.
    If you use your fingernail to press again the wood, would you feel it is penetrable easily ? does it leave a visible mark?
    Agarwood (Aquilaria) is so soft that if you pressed your finger against it, it will leave a permanent mark
    Again, this is not agarwood :)

Will test later if it sinks. No stron odor if any at all.
    @Trent Grandawood
    Wonder if any of those could be agarwood?
