The Mystical Marriage of St. Catherine (of Alexandria)
    Correggio 1518
Location: National Museum of Capodimonte, Naples, Italy

The Virgin and Child miraculously appear before Catherine, who bows her head as the infant Christ places a ring on her finger. This mystical marriage is a metaphor for her commitment to a chaste Christian life. The palm frond in her hand symbolizes her impending martyrdom.

    Cleopatra
    Nathaniel Marchant
Location: Italy Gallery, Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England

I came across this cameo a week ago and found its inspiration today. It is Cleopatra. The cameo will be auctioned off on March 5th (Bentley's Auction Rooms), in case you want to add it to your collection.
The plaster impression on which the cameo is based is part a set produced by Amastini of the work by the renowned English gem-engraver and medallist Nathaniel Marchant (1739-1816). It is Gem 81 on the list. The link below will take you to the entire collection for your viewing pleasure.
