Worth whetstone? roman-medieval

What would be the worth of a whetstone from the roman/medieval period?

 

Looks like a piece of leaverite.

 

Luckily the official registration report from the archeological service with determination by an authorised and specialized archeologist comes with this whetstone, so that's not the question.

The question is the worth of such roman/medieval whetsone.

Just ask myself. Those can be ordered there from bulk in sizes to choose? Such, authentic ones, aren't found in bulk. Should one doubt the authencity there?

Whatever This gives me a very good starting lead.
Although mine are not 'viking' (viking sells).

 

I confess I did not read their description completely before posting. Theirs are new stones, made in the style of Viking whetstones.

Generally, we are not a pricing service, and I cannot find comparable objects that have previously sold on ebay or the more common sites for auction results. You may have to track down catalogs from auctions specializing in European artifacts and antiquities.

I would not anticipate that such an object, even with provenance, is worth a great deal. It also looks like the one you post is incomplete/damaged, which would affect value.

I'm not asking for/to price, but just worth indication. I gave others reactions with worth too (not allowed either?) and got no attention it wouldn't be allowed. If so, again sorry.

 

Don't worry. Some members who are experienced, specialized dealers are able and willing to suggest values. But there are many factors that make it difficult to provide an evaluation based only on photographs.
