I agree, Dutch art is often very different. Partly because we never had much aristocracy. It is 'civilian' art, often with more freedom than that made for royal patrons etc.
Just some of us dinosaurs.:D The others are now starting to regret the results of the ruthless modernisation tendency. After all, you can do both, modernise and cherish history.
There are still some 'destructionists' though (my term). They even say the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum should be demolished because it looks like a Catholic church. Well, guess what, many 19th century museums in Western Europe and elsewhere look like churches.

    Fascinating picture-thank you for sharing
Going to Czechia the day after tomorrow hoping for great architecture and some antique shopping possibilities ;) My mum says I am being crazy as antique haunting became my Idea Fix :D . Netherlands is one of my top destinations together with Belgium(which should be cheaper for antiques and vintage :) do you have any particular passion in antiques or you like all sorts of antique stuff?
    My passion is 17-19th c. lightning/furniture

Czechia is beautiful, enjoy your trip.
Don't worry, you're in good company here. Or bad, from your mother's point of view.:playful:
Both.:D I collect jewellery, fans, certain Asian antiques. Any other beauties that catch my eye are in with a chance as well.

You said that price included delivery. I'm just curious what the delivery charges would be from the UK. If those were in the US going in the other direction, shipping charges would be at least $200 to $300 possibly more. These would be one of those things I would procrastinate listing, possibly for years.

I think it would cost around 100-150USD(if they are not charged per kilo)

Antwerp, Rotterdam, Hamburg are the worst entrances for fakes. better stay away from the edge of the continent.
Czechia is much better - no overseas port :). but the prices are on the rise as well, especially in tourist hot spots like Prague, Karlsbad, Marienbad etc.. and much kitsch and tinnef for Russian and Arab tourists (glass, ceramics).

We would call these "prickets" rather than candlesticks.
