This small (4"tall X 3"diameter) footed vase has a lot going for it. A bright blue flower; the color changes from pink to the palest milk blue in the body; it has a pinched rim with a line of glass that matches the leaves and the turned-up feet. It has a rough pontil scar. But it was headed back to be re-donated, as it seems to me to be referential rather than from an earlier time. I don't know enough to be sure, so before I send it back for someone else to enjoy, I would appreciate your thoughts.

Interesting article. I think this was an attempt to emulate the style of the Mt. Washington vases, which had this gradient pink to white some in the satin. Vase Pink Pairpoint & Mt. Washington Art Glass for sale | eBay Yes. Let's see what she says.

Hm. There goes my reputation. ;)

Gut feel is too thick, too heavy and not detailed enough for S&W or another nineteenth century Stourbridge maker, or an Austrian one of the period. The rim is way too hefty, too. Have a look at the one that Will Farmer commented on, you'll see what I mean.

I'd go with 20th C Italian, post WW2. Might have been made on Murano, but could equally well be an Empoli factory. It's a little tourist piece - you see that applied grapes thing on 50s and 60s pots like mad.

That makes me very happy! I was thinking 21th century Chinese when I was asking repro. I should have made my question clearer. Sorry. I very much appreciate you taking the time to describe your observations. I buy older tourist pieces because they have mass appeal. I keep them for a while and then return them. Thank you.

You're very welcome. I like the gradation on it, pretty wee thing.

It creates a bright spot in the sun because it glows. Unfortunately, as my perfume\scent bottle collection has grown, it got moved off the window ledge. I recently finished a project of reviving a large howard miller curio cabinet which had good bones but was beaten up. There will now be space.
