DSCF7721.JPG DSCF7722.JPG DSCF7723.JPG DSCF7724.JPG DSCF7727.JPG DSCF7730.JPG i purchased this 6x6 inch tile years ago..over the last year ive put it on ebay several times and listed it as a 10 day auction...this tile is hand thrown top to bottom...its the epitome of art nouveau...over the years if i listed tiles they would get 100's of hits and with many watchers and sell at a high price...my question is why has this tile received only 2 looks and no watchers...is there something about it i dont know about..its nautical with a walrus and the mermaid has the face of a walrus..its an exceptional piece of art..does anyone have an idea why theres no interest at all...2 looks ???...this does not make sense even if its more contemporary it should have had more interest...thx in advance for your help .....andy

It's definitely an artisan tile, and...interesting, but Art Nouveau it isn't. The corner designs are Celtic knots, but that's as close as it gets.

The seal creature with the human buttocks might have something to do with it.... or is that supposed to be a human? I didn't see human at first. Just too weird. Not old, nor art nouveau. Besides, predominately brown. Brown does not sell well.

It took a second look to see an entirely naked lady for me too. That said, naked ladies usually sell, and she's swimming with a seal and they sell too.

Don't list it as Art Nouveau, list it as Celtic. The subject is a 'selkie' with a seal. It could also be the selkie's transformation from seal to human or vice versa.

I forgot about selkies. I bet Celtic mythology will sell.

Spot on.... This would not appeal to art nouveau buyers. Better marketing might just sell this.

I know I have seen this tile before, but I can not remember where.

As well as comments above, eBay seems to have made it very difficult to get views unless you pay them extra for marketing. Your tile is probably right down the bottom of the search results. I've got lot's of items on there that have no interest at all and I know plenty of other people that have had similar experiences.

I can echo that. I haven't actually decided I'm done with eBay...but haven't listed anything in almost 6 months.

I gave up three years ago after they completely destroyed the Jewelry section in the interests of using Authentication for high-end fine jewelry. An 18k ring set with a CZ was also classed as Costume, btw. High end costume was also forced into Authentication, even though the Authenticators didn't know a darned thing about good costume. The killing stroke was no one could find my store or my pieces when I dropped the store. So I bailed.

I'd say "and money", but after sales are down to near zero, I lost precious little of that.

Local only. I may go back on line at some point, but it will have to be a saner venue.
