Featured Medal?

I want to get back to this medal. I've researched a lot about it, and I've learned that it was awarded specifically for services to the Jacobin Club and a political party. But what's interesting is that my medal's ribbon is completely different, both in size, quality, and material. But I have no doubt that the ribbon is original. Could this medal be from the Revolutionary period? If so, that changes everything, as famous medals are usually dated to the 19th century. But mine also has some differences.

 

I see that the ribbon on yours is of a different type than the grosgrain of the 2 other examples we found. It is possible that the ribbon on the others has been replaced after the original became as frayed as yours. The first seller says 'likely' original, which sounds more like wishful thinking than supported fact. The second seller makes no representation about the ribbon at all.

What do you see that is different about the metal parts of your medal?

Allowing for different lighting, darkness & location of tarnish, I think they all look the same, even though the third photo has been reversed & does not show the same side of the cap as the other two, so is not a reliable comparison. I see casting flaws on yours that I do not spot on the others. I hope some other members will look & give their opinions.

I cannot answer for this medal, but many medals were produced by several different firms, so there may well be slight differences in the finished product. As regards the ribbon, this again my depend on when the medal was made, as during wartime for example, there may have been shortages of certain materials or colours, so differences may occur .
