~1 1/2" square, ~1 1/4" high, plus ~3/8" hinged brass lid; bottom borders are ~1/4" wide, with the central square apparently as formed, ~1" square, ~1/8" deep. The vertical an horizontal edges are also polished, ~1/16" wide, an' amazingly without discernible chips or fleabites! I'm hoping the pattern of the cover will place it roughly in time. The grinding an' polishing appears to be machine work, rather than by hand. The glass is not UV reactive. What do y'all see here? Thanks for lookin'!

I think it could be either, but am getting a bit of a Germanic vibe from it.

Found another on ebay but no information. Selling quite reasonably, if you would like a pair. Item #178421475329

Here is a similar inkwell with the same square indented bottom as yours. Fits into a tray. ebay #236582930026

The indented bottom is fairly distinctive, and I am not finding any others with it besides this one.

That one has a cover in far better condition than mine.
    Thanks for both links, Brad...
