I have no idea how old this is, because I have no idea who made it, but hey - I still think it's kinda cute!

    A sterling silver toothpick :)

My goodness, Shangas. Where did you find that?

Pretty sure I would not care to get that point anywhere near my mouth.

    Flea market, this morning. $5.00!!

I was like Hell yeah! I'll take it! If for no other reason than I've never seen one before, and it was literally cheaper than dirt!

I have other pieces of Australian silver (not many, but a few) which are also marked "STG SIL". So yes, it wouldn't surprise me that it IS Australian made, but exactly made by who, I have no idea.

Ive got a couple of stickpins that have that twisted stem . I swear the spoon end reminds me of an ear wax cleaner !

I think that's a toothpick and ear wax remover in one.

LOL!! Possibly, OBB, but the other end is more like a flat spatula, rather than a scoop, or hook. I mean I suppose if you tried hard enough, you could use it for that, but I don't think it's practical.

Polishing the tarnish off was surprisingly difficult with this piece, possibly because it's so small and tricky to hold.

I got the majority of the tarnish off, but it certainly wasn't easy!!

You wouldn't think so, probably, but I actually think it's quite cute. For something so mundane to be this artistically made, must be quite unusual? I've never seen a silver stick-toothpick before. I've only ever seen those Victorian-era retractable ones.
