Featured Sterling brooch, mark?

    I have this sterling brooch which I think is diamonds rather than glass but I have yet to test them.

    On the reverse is just 925 and the mark which I can only see as a squid.

    The pin is brass.

    Its box is from a local jeweller and watchmaker who I can only find records from 1892.

    Apologies for the pics but I have used 3 cameras and my phone to try and snap this mark, it was quite elusive.

    Isn't that another "mark" opposite side..under pin? "A " and more..? Its upside down in photo.

    Hi Janette, that is a jewellers repair or cleaning mark, like they put inside watch cases.

    Yes, the Parisian Diamond Company, which isn't Parisian.

    Beautiful squid, Davey.:D Yes, that's the Parisian etc mark.

    Looking at the brooch again, I have to say, it is really elegant.

    Yup, British retailer. And Edwardian too. Gives the lie to the nonsense spouted in other places that 925 is a modern mark. (!)

    Pretty little thing. I guess the "diamond company" mark is like USA-ian "silver" companies. If you see silver in the park, it's always plated ware from what I've seen.
