I'm about to list this Charles Twelvetrees card on ebay, but I keep thinking that maybe I should know who the little fellow is. If he's a know character, I might price the card higher. Also, what the heck is that black box the girl is giving him for Valentines Day?

I doubt there's a specific name. Cute card.

What moves when you push or pull the handle?

She bends down towards him from the waist.

Why does he look so unhappy with that black box??

The little girl gives me Campbell's Soup Kids vibes and/or Kewpies vibes.

Or maybe she's not giving him the box, she gave him the hat?

Thanks Laura. I've been slowly collecting Charles Twelvetree cards for years. I have a small box of less than ten. Only the signed ones, and the ones that I've verified go into the box.
UNFORTUNATELY, it's only been recently that I've started writing down where I verified it from.
So maybe it's Twelvetrees, and maybe it isn't. I think it is because I know I wouldn't have put it in the box if I hadn't verified it to my satisfaction.

On the other hand, a lot of the "greeting card" artists' work looks so much alike that it is really difficult to tell.

I've been idly studying Valentine card art for a few years now since I aquired many hundreds at once (thanks @Bronwen;)) and there's only a few artists that I think I know by sight.

Think Schrödinger's cat is inside the box.

It's not as bad having CRS when you see others with it

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Maybe he is giving her the box, but it is very heavy and hard to lift?
The black box is really a puzzle.

@silverbell - can you spot a Twelvetrees a mile away?

Book, it depends on the coloration. The white and light blue ones are easy. The brown, orange, yellow ones, not so much. Those blend into the Hummel colors. (And several other artists in paint and plaster)

There is, however, a print which has shares the colors of yours, and has a little girl in an outfit similar to that of your little girl, and is attributed to Twelvetrees. Will try to find it... :)

In the line where one types one's destination, put: Charles Twelvetrees Artist. The similar little girl is (on my computer) is the first one listed. It is called "The Escort Bureau," and is for sale for $2,950. (!!!!)

    Oops, sorry...

Mabel Lucie's babies are so similar, however, that one has to wonder if the two artists are related. Although, CT has more of a sense of humor, and even a bit of maliciousness! Note his baby with a hatchet!

Thank you @silverbell. The one you linked to is and original watercolor by Charles Twelvetrees, that's why it's so expensive. :)
