thanks a lot. it's more about the construction of the "manufacture". professional photographs.
one point is interesting at the moment - they mention that the interlaced CA will stay. but nothing else.

and forgot it. they mention everything was handpainted at that time around 1900 with the official mark CA. may have changed later ? 1929 when everything went down the drainpipe ? a bit cheating the Americans is no sin, is it ;).

Have not done the loop test yet. Thanks for your input. I won't get my hopes up but would still like to know an approximate value to inventory and as a starting point in case I list it.

Maybe a venial one! But this American will feel cheated if you don't share how you'd tag/label the plate if you were to sell it in store or showcase it in a gallery. lol!

for listing purposes - statesside that is ? - don't mention anything we found out till now !
at the moment this gives me a bit of a brainstall.
for me it's clear though that it has nothing to do with Altrohlau.
if a fake by Ahrenfeldt Limoges factory, then a later one when the Swiss left the company, because they were from the German speaking part and would not have tried it with "Altrohla", being fully aware of the big German community in the US; with cheating a bit - yes, why not, always...:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Here in France I would expect that plate to be no more than 5euros. Sorry.

Yes, statesside. Kindly let me know when you've come to a final decision. I'd really like to know when and where it was made to connect the pieces of the puzzle, especially after all of the thoughts in the thread. :)

Fake plate: 5 euros; the differing opinions on origin and present lack of an exact match in any archives: priceless! :)

I have to agree with popsycat. till now no serious equivalent found.
even if we find the company that really made them, it's doubtful.
the last chance I see is that someone tried to take advantage of the buy-out of MZ Altrohlau by Hutschenreuther - around the same year 1909 when Ahrenfeldt asked for registration - and get registered in the US to swap names lateron.

Okay, thanks again for all your input (and to all who weighed in). I think I'll just tag it, "Early 1900s gilded serving plate 'marked' Charles Ahrenfeldt Altrohlau & featuring 1700s Rococo/late Baroque women."

Sometimes a good description is "Gainsborough ladies" rather than "Rococo/late Baroque women" It is a generic term which conjures up the image quite well.

Great tip! Checked them out and it looks like Georgiana Cavendish, Dutchess of Devonshire, is depicted on top--not sure about the other lady.
