    Yours is pretty new ('pretty new' to me can be last 40 years) just based on overall design & construction. Looks like it is an 'enhancer', i.e., the bail opens so the pendant can easily be added to or removed from a necklace, even when it would not be possible to slide a pendant on over the clasp & rest of chain/beads/pearls. This is another modern feature.

    I was thinking 90's I was looking for the word enhancer I called it a slider TY!
