    If there's some way you can have a mount made, I'd do that. Leave the integrity of the piece intact. Oh, and make sure you tell the jeweller NOT TO CLEAN IT! ;)

    I finally got around to getting this worked on, the jeweller has made the two silver loops in the rivet holes and aged/styled them to fit in with the edge pattern on the item. Going to supply a leather chord and similar silver chain to actually do the hanging as I don’t know what she will prefer.

    I think it looks great, very pleased

    JMHO. a simple leather strip would concentrate the interest on the old item itself.
