Featured Are these beads what I think they are?

    A lucky thrift store find. It was mixed in with the costume jewelry!
    I love it and hate it at the same time. I hate it for what it is made of, but love the vintag-ey goodness.:confused::eek:

    Is there now a complete ban?
    I didn't think that law had been passed yet and that it's still legal to sell Pre 1947 Ivory.

    Just checked with a reputable seller I know well and the Ivory ban in the UK hasn't been passed yet.

    Here in the US, I think there were two restrictions. Don't remember the details.
    As Bronwen said there was one in the 1970s, the complete ban went into effect in the late 1980s.
    I was at the costume jewelry counter of a large dept. store for 6 months in early 1987. Ivory earrings, bracelets and necklaces were still available.
