Wiscbirddog .. thank you for your reply, yes I did rise above it, but then it was never in my nature to be unkind, my mothers mum (my grandmother) placed all of her six kids in a Catholic boarding school because she just didn't want them .. they weren't even Catholic but that was the only place that would take them .. they were all very young. So you see that my mum never really had the love of a mother herself, this was about 1923 when they were placed there. One must follow their own heart, put the past behind them .. not forget it but put it behind them and forge ahead. Anyway,.. that's my take on it. .. Joy.

And YOU have apparently done so... It says MUCH about your character. Again, I am so sorry that you had to endure such a childhood, but it is heartening that you were able to overcome it.

Sometimes the exchange goes like this: You know who you look like? That woman who worked with the gorillas. Dian Fossey, I inquire. Yeah, yeah, that's it. Oh, I say, usually people tell me I look like Jane Goodall. Yeah, yeah! That's it!

To round out the pantheon, Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas is the one who works with orangs.
