It wasn`t directed at you, sorry.

Going off topic is all well and good but when it involves comparisons with some old corny third rate canned laughter TV show that half of us have never heard of, it becomes like a riddle with no significance to the subject being discussed, especially to overseas members whose first language is not English.

Odd thought - Albania? The lady in the front looks like a European Muslim, and those uniforms are definitely not Western European. Bulgarian would fit too. I don't know the uniforms, so this is 90% wild guess.

    Hello evelyb30,

I have the uniforms confirmed as austrohungarian and the period the photos were taken as 1904-1905.
The old lady in the photo is dressed typicaly for poorer class of older women of Serbia and Croatia. The lady seems to be in mourning as well. Muslim woman that age and time, would wear much heavier baggy pants and overcoat or multy layer colourfull dress.
Especially if they were albanian, the younger woman would be covered by fabric from head to toe

Thanks. It does make me wonder what the occasion was for the photographs. In other countries, older peasant women generally just didn't bother wearing anything but black; it was easier.
