That is possible, of course. Would be interesting to find out more, also if it happened during the MCM period.

 

Could you kindly get some photos of the stand without the tray? Top down and bottom up would be handy as well as any joints or screws.

 

Hi @Ownedbybear . Attached some additional pics of the base which is collapsible.. it’s in need of some TLC but still very unique. I would also like to clean the copper but better ask all of you experts about tips in That dept.

Great suggestion re the table top I wish it was only 2 pieces! This tray and table base came was someone’s copper / bronze collection. Smaller Things like pots and jugs and various items. Not sure what has value and what doesn’t. The tray is special!

 

It's a really well made base with those proper hinges. Often, these bases are just a sort of folding bamboo or wood stick affair using pins. Someone has taken real trouble with yours. I do think you had it upside down: those pointy ends go upwards, the strong base at the bottom.

Yes @Ownedbybear I posted pics of it upside down. Wow The base is so beautiful and fits so perfectly it’s hard to believe it doesn’t go with the tray . I’m new! Lol I’m still trying to figure out if this tray is a serious collectable or not. I need to find an antique dealer in the Toronto area and bring them my entire inherited copper / bronze collection. Apparently it was all from an antique dealer.
