Come to think of it, my dad had a little holder like that on his desk that he had a sponge in, that he would wet so he wouldn't have to lick stamps or envelopes back in the day.

 

I discussed it with my cats, and they said it is to hold cat toys - wool pom poms to be exact.

Proper Siamese because it's a properly chunky cat. If you look at old Victorian images of them, they're solid cats. Later, they got bred to a point where their legs are very fragile.

I am going with Ascot - a salt cellar. There is a salt cellar collection group on Facebook that might be able to help you. I would certainly have grabbed it up to use as one.

 

Both mine are "traditional", apple headed, Siamese not the modern classics. It took me a while to find a breeder in the US that specializes in keeping the old lines active. In my opinion they ruined the breed in search of new color points and exoticness. They have done this with many dog breeds too.

I get my cats for personality, not appearances. They are sweet tempered, calm, intelligent and the most loving creatures. They are also chunky and big boned.

 

Although we have dogs, I do love cats

We live too near to busy a road to have them

Last one we had got hit by a car on his first venture outside, we didn't want to let him out but felt he should be allowed

I love it when they climb on your chest when your sleeping, with that wonderful breathing sound

 

Actually, traditional Siamese are very dog like in their behavior.
I'm sad to hear about the loss of you cat. Mine get to go out but only in my large fenced in back year that has coyote rollers on the top of the fence to keep them in and the coyotes out.

In my teenage years we had cats that were almost feral, and only came back home for feeding, totally street savy

They lived outside and probably led a better existence

I heard a quote recently that if cats were as big as dogs, they wouldn't be kept as pets !!!

Feral and fully outdoor cats tend to have much shorter lives, sadly. Friend had a Maine Coon which weighed twenty four pounds...!
