    In short, South Tyrole is culturally Austrian, rather than Italian.;) It is an option, although it doesn't look like the South Tyrolean furniture I have seen. They do love floral painting though.
    Is there a way to get a clear view of the lady's hat? That could be a clue.

    Thanks, James. I thought it might be a South Tyrolean hat which sort of resembles a squashed pear.
    I know, doesn't sound flattering, my sincere apologies to the people of South Tyrole, in particular those from the squashed pear region.:sorry:
    But the hat is of a rather generic type, so no clue as to the origin.
    At her lover, who is not her fiancé.:shifty:

    If you are thinking of buying this Dressing Beuro:confused: , the estimate looks good imo.:)

    @James Conrad
    I'm just curious why you think it is European, instead of Pennsylvania Dutch?
    Could it not have been a father's wedding gift to a daughter? Maybe not meant for clothes. Sewing cabinet, kithchen closet with spice drawers? Just throwing out ideas. This isn't my area of expertise.
    Just curious why you think it isn't homemade American.

    Well no, it's not Pennsylvania German/Dutch i don't think, you can just see backboards of cupboard & they do not appear to be american pine.
    Ditto the form itself, it's very small, only 5 feet tall with a bank of small drawers on the side, never seen that form before, not in PA or NY or anywhere large numbers of german/dutch immigrants were.
    Finally, the painted decoration, it's just not "americanized" if you will, birds, tulips, hearts, etc.
    Taken as a whole, not american, It has european written all over it and probably German speakers, 98% sure on that but, have not seen it personally so not 100% but pretty dang close! :)

    Another thing, according to another poster here, this cab has already made the rounds in Savannah Ga, to a major dealer there and now lands at a small country auction house in Camden SC. If it were American, it would probably be on it's way to NYC now for the Americana Shows this coming Jan......... just sayin

    True! gotta watch out for those squashed pears!:hilarious:
    I like "mine" better although not in as good condition as one above, for 1. the male/female figures & 2. it's dated.

    Yep, well done, i would say "my" cab is probably Austrian! Not dutch or swiss as description says.
    Course, one never knows about these things, the blooey auction house could be wrong as well!
