It looks like there is some wear/plating loss on the hook of the clasp. It could be the photo....

Can't make it any bigger, but the colour and surface of the hook look different from the rest.

It's really hard to do much more than make guesses about the bracelet with only the one picture of it and no marks detected. Those fold-over clasps were used on both costume and fine jewelry. I'd love to see a shot of the other side of the bracelet plus close-ups of the ends plus one showing the clasp opened up.

Here are some others with similar clasps ....

The density test shows this is gold. Is the phrase 'costume jewellery' ever applied to objects made of gold?

The clasp looks crude and clumsy to me. Certainly unsafe, because the end of the clasp could easily catch on something and open up.

Here are two more photos. Do not rely too much on the colour. The first photo I posted gets the colour right.

Anything that looks like a mark on the photos is not. There are random scratches on the bracelet.

have u tried closing it and locking it !
    It looks sturdy.

but again....not being a fan of the density test....a jeweler really needs to get at this to confirm the metals origin.

As for the stones, they're way too tiny to really mean anything..

I'm very dubious about the density test. This needs acid or a spectroscope.

I took the necklace to a jeweller this morning, who did the acid test. It is 18 carat gold.

Thanks for all the help. My son-in-law found it in a local forest and has taken it to the police. It is his if not claimed within four weeks.

There is a lesson here. When you have an 18CT gold bracelet, and an easily tripped clasp, be careful what you do on the forest floor.
