Feel sure Bronwen was referring to Glenn and Hope Brown's son Hoyt, who is also a carver.

Might keep an eye out for Cherokee carvings from the same region - I've had a small walnut bear attributed to Goingback Chiltoskey for many years, it has always just made me smile, the sweet form and the lovely feel of the wood...

Bronwen was. Just spotted the possibility in the article on the Browns. I do have a folk art cat that resembles another carving that was posted recently, using wood I think has been made interesting by a disease process. (I have a fondness for things carved or turned in spalted wood, but that's not what the cat is.)

Cheryl - Words can not express how grateful I am that you are on this forum & were willing to help me out with these figures.:kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss:

They ended early this evening & it has been quite a while since I was stunned at the final price. I was busy listing stuff & was not paying too much attention to the bidding. The last time I looked with about 8 to 10 minutes to go the dove was at $50.00 & the swan was at the opening bid of $19.99.:eek:

I am absolutely certain that there was no way I would have gotten any where near these amounts had you not pointed me in the right direction & gave me the key words I needed to attract the right bidders.

    Thank you!!!!!!
