    Thank You Brownwen! What you are saying definitely makes sense. Wonder why I can't find any reverse intaglio with the ceramic poured in? I have searched and searched. I have to believe it isn't real common, as this piece is also 14 k Gold. I first thought maybe costume jewelry until i had the gold tested? Any more ideas where I might search for a poured ceramic intaglio?????

    What is written on the back of the mount? (upper part of your pics 1 & 2):cyclops:

    I can't see anything written. I took it to a gold dealer and he tested it as 14k.

    I think what you may be seeing is scratches on the gold.
