Barnowl, all I can tell you is that I passed up a piece that looked Asian to me last summer, and when I could finally find the maker, it was modern Native American, Navajo. Still kicking myself because it was at least a $300 piece, and part of a necklace the pendant went on- I bought the pendant, but the set would have been worth 6 times what I would have paid for it. So I do think you are on the money, I do think your piece is Native American.

The antique show where I saw this set is held once a year. I am going to the next one next month hoping the seller comes back and he may have the other piece, the necklace....long shot, but why not.

those close up photos made me a believer too. The 'splits' that create the bell of the blossom are variously flared (i.e, the amount of curve varies slightly) and the split length varies too. All good signs for hand made.

Also the article @komokwa suggests that the punching was 'the hard part' so the plainness is good too... i.e. don't mess up a good thing if it's too difficult.

    Nice thread/post.

Handmade yes,but the "splits" are solder joints. Punching/drilling the holes is not complicated, same goes for making the beads, after making a dozen or so it's fairly simple.

I had several NA turquoise necklaces my ex bought for me and they had the hook and eye. This is a nice piece and I think you paid a good price for it.

Thank you everyone. I'm stunned by the price the similar one sold for. I feel a lot better now about my purchase :)

ah, I see. cut a strip, split two, roll, then solder the third. So the solder joint is in the 1st pic. hm. interesting.

Speak of the Devil and he doth appear :) Bought this set for 3.5 euros today. (oddly enough, the earrings and necklace came from a different vendor).
