Carnelian can be verified by a gem tester, it would test in the quartz range :)

You go girl! I dearly love amber. You'll find it. Watch out for reconstituted amber, though. Here's a link that might be helpful in avoiding non amber or low grade amber https://texasgaltreasures.com/2017/...-simulated-reconstituted-and-other-materials/

I'd say carnelian, it looks right for it.

I have a dilemma!!!! I purchased what was advertised as a Polish Amber Stone ring through ebay and I was crossing everything that when it arrived it was in fact amber. I went straight into the closet when I got my little parcel shone my UV torch onto the stone and this was the result. The second image is my original ring that I was sure was amber. Both rings look the same under UV light. I contacted the seller and said I didn't think it was amber and I said it didn't flouresence when I put it under UV light. He said they had done 3 tests and it was definitely amber. Not sure what is going on. Any suggestions?? Thanks. Tracey

I'd ask which tests. It's feasible that both are reconstituted.

Hm. I suspect reconstituted. Could you show me them in natural light?

How can you do a float test with so much silver weighing it down? Methinks the seller is fibbing. Is the stone cold to the touch?
Lovely ring though, can we see it in natural light? Any marks?:)

Yes. There is a mark. I'll try and get a good pic of it. Ring below in natural light they said it had an RI of 1.54 20201201_195050.jpg

Maybe another carnelian then. Carnelian can also have an RI of 1.54.

I have found a mark. It looks like 11 under the loupe but I can't make out the second mark. The mark has been stamped on the outside of the band. 20201201_200509.jpg 20201201_200509.jpg

Yes it is Polish, 1963-86. Upside down though, the Polish girl is getting dizzy this way.:nurse:
Looks like it has the 3 for .800 silver:

Oops!!! Don't want her getting dizzy. I'll try another angle. They did say 800 in the blurb. Sorry AJ I forgot to mention that :wideyed:
    Let me try another pic.

Can't get a decent pic but looking thru the loupe it looks like a small w then the girl and then definitely a 3 but that doesn't fit in with your markings. I thought perhaps a small H but definitely a w.
