HI, Book. What Vintage?

I checked my box of leftovers from 2014. Several "TENDER THOUGHTS' but all with a bar code. I guess those are disqualified.
Some with nothing on it except a tiny picture - repeat of the front cover, a 5 digit number and "original art by - different names like ElaineMaier or Elizabeth Brownd.
Or such as Hallmark Thomas Kinkade, mentions copyright 1995.
Probably not 'VINTAGE enough??????

OH, well, I guess I'll continue with eBay and 12 pictures of top, bottom, inside, right side, left side, front back, top bottom and one tiny flea bite.
Start low, sell high and take at least a half hour of wrapping, double boxing, packing , printing label and carrying to the P.O.
Slightly under minimum wage, but makes room in the house AND keeps me out of trouble.

Maybe we should all go over to Pinterest or Etsy or Martha Stewart to see if there's a vintage christmas card craft project that we don't know about. So many of those types of things go crazy on the internet now.

 

Good point, Pam. I've always thought that spikes in sales could be from some TV program, written article, or live event. Now that blogs are so popular, that could do it, too.

 

I only thought of that because I spent yesterday afternoon tracking down some shatterproof ornaments because I want to make one of those ornament wreaths. There are so many images and how-to-do-its out there that it seems like fun to do. But I also found an Etsy seller who does the wreaths (can't find her now, of course) who also takes old Christmas card boxes and makes these really cute dioramas out of them. I'm still looking, so will post if I find her.

It's amazing to see how "meh" stuff from our childhoods have turned collectible, then vintage, then "rare" and incredibly valuable over the years. If I live long enough I will be worth a fortune.

Those are/were told to put in their highest bid and hope for the best. Good Luck. If their high bid was half what it sold for there is a nice eBay feature I have used often. "BLOCK THIS MEMBER FROM BIDDING ON MY ITEMS."

 

There's a jewelry seller that has over 5k listings who has the most ridiculous prices for her items. Sterling earrings that would normally go for $10 she has listed for $120. And some of it actually sells!

She has a very low sell through rate, but hey, if she sells 10 things a month at $100 each, she's not doing too bad if it's a part time job.

I did take a look at her feedback recently and noticed that some of the same buyers keep popping in a lot of her feedback, so she's either got some loyal followers or family with deep pockets!

 

I just came across the seller I mentioned above while browsing lots. I don't see anything about this set that makes it worth more than $15-20 on a good day, and it's listed for $267. And it's that way across the board for the other listings as well.

I can't imagine spending enough time to create 5k listings only to list them so high that nothing sells.

Oh my gosh! Just imagine how much she could sell if her prices were half what they currently are ... which, on most of her stuff, would still be on the high side (in my opinion)

 

I'm surprised those listings don't at least have Best Offer on them.

 

Had a look at this seller and can't see why anyone buys from her. There is a full page of gobbledygook superlatives and policies with virtually no real description of the item or condition. Had to read between the lines to even find what was there.

Looking at her sold listings, I find what did sell, was mostly in the ballpark of reasonable. In fact, someone got a really good buy on a nice Rookwood vase that she listed as studio pottery.

 

Very Interesting. I looked through all 400 plus sold and saw a lot of cards I sold in big lots a few years ago. lol
Along the same lines I have been watching a seller who makes old cards into ornaments.. and gets fab prices. Check this out. Anyone crafty enough to try it?

They use reproductions of old cards though.
But I bet it could be done with any nice old cards.
