Featured Look at the sold prices on these Christmas cards......

Yep, they buy old cards and reproduce by the looks of it by enlarging them a tiny bit. They seem to do very well. I knew of a woman that used old Christmas card images for her own Christmas product packaging and got in trouble will Hallmark and few other makers for copyright infringement. So now she only used old images of defunct companies that didn't copyright. She had her list when she came over to look at some of my cards several years ago.

First time I've said this about a seller. I REALLY LIKE THAT ONE. Don't know how they get away with no copyright infringements, but it's OK with me.

Member since 2003. Total of 34,878 feedbacks. ALL POSITIVE. Not even a neutral. 3,459 in past 12 months. Good quality, obviously some work put into each piece. They start their auctions low and fair. Many sell at a good price and others just plain take off for the stratosphere.

The one you linked started at $7.99, after 25 bids - $204.49. But only 5 bidders. One put in 13 of those 25. Don't understand why this common habit.Some bidders. like this one, will creep up over $50.00 in 13 tiny increments. Why not just give it one big shot don't even look at it until it ends.

Of course not worth 200 bucks. It's what they call Auction Fever.

 

I have ben watching this seller for awhile and their auctions especially around the holidays consistently go over $100. I think they have developed a collector base that goes crazy when a new design is released.

 

Nice idea, and wow that's crazy high bidding for that one.

I've used original antique paper stuff to make a few dollhouse items, and sold them for a decent amount. Nothing like what that piece is going for, though.

I used to make "paintings" for doll houses out of old postage stamps and thin wood moldings.

That's similar to what I did, Greg. One of these days I'm going to get back to making things and will make some more. I miss being creative!

 

This has to be one of the weirdest threads I've ever encountered.
