Can’t quite believe my luck to find one let alone two!

Mary is feeling the love today and says ruby for the ring.
Is that unusual to only have a single eagle head hallmark on a French ring? How does the dating work with no other marks? @kyratango

Usual! Only one hallmark within sometimes nearly one hundred years... depending of the political regime... Revolution, Napoleonic, Restauration, first republic..... during 18th there were more struck together (mainly on silver) depending on provincial rulers (Fermiers Genéraux).
English hallmark system is WAY MORE informative on dates, that is so helpful!!!

I've a silver Arab dagger in a scabbard in the Hoard. I shall hunt it out. There's a thing in the gold souks to sell jewellery based on tradition: I bought a gold coffee pot charm.

KSW-I'd be parking my caravan across from this 'flea' and begin taking up permanent residence.

Nearly the same with Dutch marks, although they are accomodating enough to change them a bit more often than the French. Only a bit though, after all they are stingy Dutch.:hilarious:
Agree, they are very considerate to us poor joolies.;) It is a legacy of the old systems France and the Netherlands used to have as well, but nicely modernized.

    Beautiful thick gold.
It is a hinge I've seen on other, non-Emirati, brooches as well. Not necessarily the same maker, imo.Without a maker's mark you'll never know, but it doesn't matter, they are such good quality.
Scabbard is fine.:) So is sheath.

On kerises it is sheath, the literal translation of the Indonesian word 'sarong', the term used by Indonesians for a keris sheath.

    wow, you did well KSW:)
your brooch with the hair made me wonder if this one I have maybe had hair in it at one time? Big deep, open space on the back, maybe for hair and missing the glass cover?

It does look like it doesn’t it!. I don’t know if you could get a piece of glass to replace it? I always wonder about the life of the person who’s hair is inside. All I know about mine is that he or she was blonde and had nits!

'Good Luck' re picking, goes hand-in-hand w/ hard work (never, ever being able to pass-up a sale-the one good hit washes away a multitude of 'duds') and dogged scholarship....Tokyo Sewer Nits ?
